I have a 36G FW with fancy goldfish and plecos...there will be a power outage tomorrow, Friday, from 8 AM to about 3 PM....That's a long time to be without power, especially if you're a fish.

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to help? No heat, water movement, bubbles...What to do, what to do...:-/

    Thanks for reading!

Woah double post haha. I never found freshwater tanks to need that much care. I can't say reguarding your specific fish but I have, a parrot fish, 2 high skirt tetras, 2 frogs, and 4 other fish that i have no clue the names. And I turn off the filter and air bubbler for 2 day periods quite a lot. (when the water evaporates and it sounds like a water fall and im trying to sleep) and I've had the tank for almost 2 yrs and no deaths and its a 25g.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you want to do something, get a battery powered air pump to keep the oxygen levels up.

Its not that long unless you have a huge F/W fish load ? if you are home just take a spoon or spatula and swirl water around ever hr or so F/W does not deplete itself of O'2 like saltwater does . If it starts to get cold ? fill a jar or jug with hot water and float it in the tank . But cooler the water more 0'2 it will hold just do not let the water get to cool

Okay, that helps! Thanks...Sometimes I wonder how I don't think of these things myself! Good. Now I'm not so nervous. It's just, last time my filter went out, there was a breakout of ick and finrot in my tank...Not fun...everyone died. But I'm sure everything will be fine this time. I'll just be checking the levels consistently. Thanks again!

If you have the extra coin you can put a computer UPS on your system. I'd attach air pumps and some minimal filtration to it, and a small heater. Calculate your load and size accordingly. A few hundred amp hours is probably plenty.

freshwater fishs are more durable, if your that worried throw a sheet over the tank, the darkness will make them calm down alot belive it or not and make them calm and burn less oxygen, you can go for i wanna say 2-3 days before any bad ill effects happen which at that point of 2 days you want to start a water change of at least 20% of ur tank to increase the o2 and poop factory they created. Let us know how it went, which were all not worried so we expect good news.

Lol wait can u read this since no power!
