Title says it all. I'm in the city of Pasadena, CA and had no power for 7 days. Have a 30 gallon and 24 gallon cube. All my fish and most corals died. Just got my power back on last night and am running protein skimmer on both. Just wondering if my tanks "crashed"? Is my live rock and sand ok? I haven't checked my parameters yet. I'm just wondering if my tanks can be saved. Is 7 days long enough to crash my tank?:-/

    Yuck! Sorry about your loss!!

If your fish and corals died, yeah, it crashed. Live rock and sand can be saved, get the dead stuff off the rocks. You'll want to change the water and the tank will need to cycle again.

If you haven't already, take all the dead stuff out and test the parms, most likely they will be off. I would do a water change, run the tank for a few days to a week and test again. you may not have to recycle the tank. I went through teh same thing recently, I was out of power for 9 days and my temp was in the mid 50s. My fish were floating at the surface with almost no movement, the tank looked like soup....luckily, all my fish and about 80% of my corals recovered. I was so busy working on storm restoration I didn't get a chance to even do a WC until a few weeks later. good luck.
