:'( I was so worried about my tank for the last 7 1/2 hours my power has been out. Luckily i got home but it had still be 6 hrs. I keep pumping air through squeezing a turkey baster to get some air into my tank and I kept doing water recycling in my tank. U know i would syphon some out and put it back in to keep the heat warm. The CPU got here finally after 7 1/2 hrs. of torture and turned it back on. Luckilly i only had some inverts and LR. There all ok but i'm sure some good bacteria has died. So i'm gonna dose with some bacteria supplement like Cycle for about a week to make sure.

I don't believe I would put cycle in the tank.
Where do you live and what was the room temp?
The water in the ocean somethings gets to be 69 or lower and the coral recover fine.
    Do you use a sump?

The water did not get cold enough to really do anything major.
Bacteria will live so long as it does not get to cold.. like 50 degrees ro so.

I understand the worries and you really worked hard to keep tank happy today. I don't think it wet you back at all and certainly not enough to require cycle or anything else. Please please don't mess with the cycle just let in run its course. Remember anything in your tank had to be shipped to you and went through much worse the the care you took during the outage.

a pwr outage can play heck with a well stocked tank, but since you only have some inverts, all is good
i wouldnt worry to much they should be fine
for the future, i would get some batt operated air pumps, you can get some that plug in to an outlet and when the pwr goes out they turn on,and they arnt very expensive either
    just a thought ;)
also i dont add anything to the tank at all, except the normal dosing stuff
IMO, most of the things that you can get at the LFS is snake oil, and they tell you it is great stuff and you have to have it, they are just trying to make money, when i go into one of the LFS, there is a guy that always tries to sell me this stress coat, i have never use this stuff, the funny thing is, is that i have kept fish longer than he has been alive, but he still tries to sell me the stuff
so with that being said, stay away from the cycle stuff, it is hard to speed up nature, which is what this stuff says it does, IMO

yeah but what about the air all the pumps turned off for 7 1/2 hrs. Isn't it good to add cycle when u add new LR or other critters.

in my opinion, no, this stuff does nothing, nature can only happen so fast and you cant bottle it up ;), that is just my opinion
i have had fish of some type for quit a few years and have never used it, i use to breed african cichlids, until my job got in the way, i sold most of my breeding stock and turned my 150g into a reef, well it will be when it grows up;)

to tell you the truth, it shouldnt hurt it that much, as said above for it to really hurt the tank with as little of a bio-load as you have it would have to get pretty cold
the pwr went out about a year ago when i was @ work, total of about 8 hrs, my fish and inverts were fine, i lost 8 acro's due to no water movement, but my zoanthid colonies and xenia are still doing fine, as the fish are also ;)

i say all will be fine
goto go and watch american idol, have a good 1 ;)
