power outage

Only took 5 years of school and 15 years in the robotics industry.

 

we were just thinking about this today because we have a ice storm coming, luckily we have a generator that I can borrow off my family just in case.

 

I have a 1500VA UPS unit hooked up to my tank.

I have three filters, two powerheads, a 150watt heater and a little LED moonlight hooked up to it and it runs for 40 minutes with the heater on. Without the heater it runs for about an hour and a half. I could keep one filter running for hours if needed.

That is what I done while I was in college and loved it...just didn't pay much.

 

I want to talk about this part.


Instead of doing a water change, per se, would it be OK to heat the water from the tank (scooped out a pot at a time or whatever) instead of mixing a new batch of salt?

Take the water out of tank, heat it up, put it back in. Or would this end up killing bacteria in the water and causing an ammonia spike or screwing with the SG or something?
