So I'm looking for a way to tidy up my electrical cabinet, clean it up and organize it a bit, and add some sense to my electrical cords and what not.

So I really want to try to implement a light switch method as a means of controlling all my power nicknacks (power heads, skimmer, wave maker, lights, ect...).

My question to you electrical wizards is how do I accomplish this?
Do i simply splice the power cord of a given power head and connect the wires to the light switch and then connect the remaining wire from the switch to the power supply?

Also, I went to HD today to checkout light fixtures and there a hundred different kinds. So if you could point me in the right direction as to what type of switch i need (i.e. power rating of light switch, ect..) that would be much appreciated.
    ;D

3 prong on the backside so I would assume the supply cord would be too or it wouldn't pass and safety requirements in the US or Canada.

The last thing you would want to do is splice a switch into the cord of the powerhead. Build an electrical center and have each outlet have a switch for it. Standard home wiring items, nothing special. Each switch would turn a receptacle on/off. Then you simply plug them in and when you want to turn them off, you turn the switch off. When something wears out and gets replaced, you just replace it. No need to worry about re-splicing anything.
