Thank you. Is there a lot of effort (strength) required to cut the pipe with this ?

no, tighten it hand tight and rotate it a few times, tighten it again and repeat. edges will be fairly clean in there is a pionted tab included that you use to clean them up.

one question you could ask yourself, what tool would serve me best for this and any other job i might want to use it for. a reciprocating saw is multi purpose. can cut pretty much anything with it. and your non straught cut with the hacksaw , operator error. :) is the blade very tight in the saw , or is the a bit of play? that could throw it off a tad. and as always with a saw, let it do the work. good luck with it all carloz

Ok thanks man, I think I might go with that instead. Hopefully homedepot carries it locally.

the depot carries them. their brand , ridgid , are quite good IMO. and cheaper than the bigger names. usually they have sales on for multi packs of blades for all different uses. good choice if you get it carloz

This is waht I was going to suggest. A dremel. Dremel's are endlessly useful for exactly one zillion and seven uses. Best investment ever for a power tool for an average person. It can do this job with the right attachment.

barring the dremel, this is what I would get. one of these is good to have around for odd jobs. I have one myself.

A reciprocating saw (like a sawzall) is always a cool tool to have too.

I've been in the building mechanical trades my entire life and for a fast cut I use a hacksaw with a fine blade But if you want perfect ? simple get a Ridged pipe cutter Nos. 10, will do up to 7/8 the 15 will cut up to 1.1/4 and the 20 will cut 2" and all feature a convenient fold-away reamer and for tight areas they make a imp cutter that requires 1/4 of space to make a cut

This is why I love this forum. Maybe I should start asking health questions since I dont have insurance. Maybe there are some doctors here too ;)

Thanks a lot every one. I appreciate all of the feed back. I have decided to get a pipe cutter. I might also get a rotary tool just to have around the house.
