OK I have a 54 gal corner tank, drilled and with a built-in overflow. Not really loving the look over the powerheads and I wasnt sure if there was anyway to get the powerheads into the overflow box by cutting a hole just big enough for the head to show through. not even sure if there will be enough room with the kit being back there or how I would even position them to get enough flow through out the tank.

Didnt know if anyone has heard of this or tried it themselves..any input would be great.

never trieed it but sounds like you will have a bunch of airbubbles in the display tank maybe just go with a vortech powerhead half the pump is outside the glass [IMG]

Wouldnt you be losing the amount of water going into your over flow? Also welcome to 3reef :)

    Welcome to 3reef.

Yes, you would, but that's a pretty small volume of water which would be lost. I don't see much of a problem, but I think getting vortech pumps would be beter in the longrun. You don't have to hassel with taking the powerheads out of the overflow, and you didn't mess up the OF box if you ever resell the tank.

Vortech pumps are amazing deff worth every penny. Closed loop I dont know much about it to help you out there.

Look into an Ocean Motions Squirt. It is put onto a pump to increase flow for closed loop systems.

Is this for a mixed reef?
