I have heard mixed things on this? This power head shouldnt go in the "fuge" area right? Dont you want the fuge to be as calm as possible? My fuge area is the first chamber of my sump. (where the overflow comes in) The second chamber has my skimmer and pump to my GFO reactor. The third chamber is my return and ato sensors. Where is the best place to put a power head in my setup?

I ran one in my first chamber where I had a good amount of LR and my skimmer. I feel it helped the skimmer pick up the detrius by keeping it suspended longer and gave the LR good water circulation.

I don't think you need one in your setup.

Why do you want to use one?

A very wise member here (tangster) once suggested having a pump come on for 15 minuites every night in your sump to stir up some nasties... This also works wonders for feeding your reef

Your system should create enough flow to where a powerhead isn't required in your sump/refuge setup. I did installed a MaxiJet 1200 pump in my return section for my carbon reactor, but it flows into my refuge. The reason for this was to still have constant flow when I have a power loss, since my MaxiJet is connected to my APC battery backup. This works perfectly since my 90gal DT drains into my refuge then cascades into my center section (skimmer), then finally goes into my return section.

So to answer your question, I don't feel you really need a powerhead in your sump if there is enough flow.

Nowhere. Why do you think you need one?

I have a powerhead in my sump to remove detritus. However, I don't have any baffles, and no fuge either.
