I have a 55 gal with a single 1050 gph powerhead in the corner. I have just finished my cycle and added 2 clowns and a striped shrimp. The fish seem to be fighting getting sucking into the powerhead. It has already blended my shrimp as soon as i added it. I have it turned off now, but do I need another to balance the flow or is it the wrong place? I have moved it around and it seems to have the same effect. thanks for the advice

What kind of powerhead is it? I have 2 1050's in my 75 gallon and my skunk cleaner like to play on them and pick at them. Are they running in reverse maybe?

There is some mesh you can add to it if it keeps up, I have only had one issue and i have 2 1400gph and 2 750gph PH's. The issue came when i added my 1400's and my nems decided to release and float around I had one to low in the tank and the nem instantly got sucked into it but i saved it the second it got in there.

How low do you have it?

I would add another in to balance out the flow and make it turbulent instead of laminar.

what kind of powerhead is this?

I recommend a prop style pump, if you don't already have one, as the flow is much broader and there for less likely to kill critters. Vortech and Koralia are popular choices, but there are many more.

it is a hydor korali 1050. The flow in the tank seems like it is pulling the fish toward it. i have it on the left back corner pushing towards the middle. I dont think it is reversed because it is blowing water forward

Get one the same size, it will not be too much. The mesh fence is a good idea.
