I have checked out alot of the pics online here and noticed that alot of powerheads (wavemakers) are put on the back wall of the tank. I have mine on the sides. What is the best way? I have a 46 bowfront.

It all depends on your rock work, there is no "right" way. Place them where you need too to get rid of any dead spots and keep your tank inhabitants happy. If yours are working where they are, then leave em be. If you are seeing spots of cyano, other signs of dead spots, or corals that aren't generally happy, then you may want to play with their placement.
