I've got two Maxi Jet's that I'm setting up for water flow in my new 55 gallon. I want to make sure I'm getting it right the first time so I thought I would ask. It seems that each of these should be using the venturi plug instead of the air control valve with the tube hook up, is that correct? Also, do people usually use the hook with one suction cup that goes over the side of the tank or the three suction cup set-up?
Finally, I have another MaxiJet 1200 that is for use with the AquaC Remora, am I correct that this one gets the venturi plug also and most of the other parts are not used. It really just gets inserted into the tube of the skimmer and plugged in?

    Thanks for all the help!

Cant really help you with your skimmer cause i dont know anything about the AquaC Remora. But as far ah the PH's in your tank... Im not sure 2 PH in a 55gal will be enough. Do you have a sump with a return? cause that would count as a water movement source. I had a 55 before, it was 4' long so i had 5 PH's in there. 2 on each side in the front pointing at each other. 2 in the top back corners pointing in the front centerof the tank. And 1 down in the back just to get water moving behind the LR. didnt have 1 dead spot and plenty of current for fish and corals. HTH

As far as your skimmer goes, you dont want any venturi effect with the maxijet, so you want to plug up the hole. The Remora skimmer has a special nozzle inside the skimmer that mixes air and water. Thats the beauty of this skimmer. There is no venturi valve to clean and nothing to adjust.

For your other PH's you want to plug up the holes as well so you don't produce bubbles in the tank.
