POWERHEAD

hi, i just wanted to know what everyone used to cover the intake of there powerheads i wen to my LFS and all they had was this long white thing that i didnt have enough room to put on due to the rock. i ask because when i got home from work yesterday i found a turbo snail in the intake dead [smiley=dead.gif] [smiley=dead.gif] [smiley=dead.gif]

 

I don't cover mine with anything, so not a good person to ask. I don't likr the filter media as it is a nitrate/phosphate trap and requires to much maintenance to clean. I occassionally loose a snail, but it's a trade off.

 

yea i just felt so bad for the snail. when i shut the powerhead off he just dropped. he was still alive for another 20min.

 

Maxi Jet PH come with very small screens for the intake. usually there are two with each PH a small one and a medium sized one. the screens fit other types of PH so I have used the Maxi Jet screen on my others.
I had two Chromis decide to explore the inside of a PH. Not fun

CAN YOU BUY THE SCREENS W/O BUYING THE PH OR DO YOU KNOW IF I BUY A MAXI JET WILL THE 2ND SCREEN WORK ON A AQUACLEAR 402. I HAVE BEEN PLANNING ON BUYING A 2ND PH ANYWAY

 

That is the exact PH I have used the Maxi jet screens on. Fits great

 

AND THE LAGER SCREEN IS OK ITS NOT 2 BIG

 

The screens have the same diameter. one is like 1.5" long while the other is about 0.5" long. If you get the Maxi jet you will see right away how it is

The great thing about Maxi Jet PHs are you can use them in a wave maker system and they are very small. If your using the suction cups with your auquacleaar you will find MaxiJet suckers much better,
