    Hey Everyone,

Recently my powerheads both broke and I now have a new aquarium setup. I have a 46 Gallon Bowfront with the rocks all the way at the back placed in the center going up to about half of the aquarium. I was wondering how many and which brand of powerheads I should go with and where they should be placed. It is a reef aquarium. Also, how much flow rate should each powerhead have?

I am somewhat new to the marine aspect of the hobby myself, but from what i understand its best to have at least 2 powerheads one on each end of your tank. Not sure what size you would need though, sorry. Good luck and have fun with it.

I believe I've heard that the formula is 25x the gallon size of your tank. So 25x46=1150gph. Idk if that helps but its what I've heard...

Koralia's are the most popular ones now. You definitly need 2 at a minimum. I have 4 in a 135 and am looking to add even more...

The advantage the bow front have is that due to the shape it will help the flow around the tank. Personally I would go with a couple of Koralias 3 or 4's. But all depends how much flow you want and need :)
