Blows me away. I can see new growth daily. Perhaps that is normal, but my tank is finally doing good after all the work and it is my first salt.... so it is new to me.

The Frogspawn is special too. It died when I got it except two small baby shoots. They lived and then one day there was a lot of buds. Now the thing is really taking off.

My Favia and Acan are pretty slow going though.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Well I finally figured it out. I have had my Alk pump not come on a couple of times. I have been working on it. Every time my Alk gets up, it takes a dive.

Well yesterday made up some new Calcium. I calibrated my PH probe twice, and I ran my Alk/Ca pumps to get accurate flows again. Well after all that.... my PH is still in the tank. 8.0. It is always 8.2-8.3. I even verified with two different drop tests.

So I am trying to figure out why my PH is in the tank. I figure the Alk is not dosing again. Dump some in. And Do a Alk test...... 11.2 DKH. Which is higher than I want in the first place. Iwant 9.5-10.

Finally dawns on me..... it's getting cold and all my windows have been shut. All Summer my house is open. Close everything up and PH drops.:-[

I kept seeing low PH and thought it was my Alk. Now I have to turn back my Alk to get it back down.:-[

Well here are my Phoenix 14ks and actinics

I FINALLY got some new PC actinics. SPS dual actinic. I could not make up my mind between 420s and 460s. My old bulbs were only a year old I think, but had really went bad. Thought they were burned out. I could have taken a pic but it probably would not have turned out right. Well any way.

Now my camera does not capture the true color of these or my 14ks. But this pic is just my Actinics.

So vastly different that what I had. Should have done it a long time ago. Same sort of color as my 14k mhs, but the phosphorescence really pops. Looks great with the halides on.

My Alk/Ca is stable. 10.6 dkh and 420. Tweaking a bit to get Alk down and Ca up a bit. Perhaps I should keep my Alk higher than the 9.5 i was at in the Summer now my house is closed up and my PH has been around 7.9-8.1

I also bought another Mandarin and he has been doing well.

I recently just replaced my actinics also... right after my tank move. Both bulbs were out thought I had messed something up during the move. Took the bulbs to my LFS and they were the problem. Switched over to the hamilton blue 03 actinics. Much bluer and brighter than my stock actinics from coralife. Im happy with the new bulbs. They compliment the phoenix14k's quite nicely. And Im sure your thinkin the same on yours.

I'm really like it how they turned out. In fact, I might get some halides a little less blue next time. I like the Phoenix's but that is the end of the line. I might try something a little more white with as good as the actinics look.

Unless Im completely used to the phoenix's I dont think they are that blue anymore... Especially with my new actinics.... Its a crisp white blue. Not so bluish as sometime ago. Has been a good 6 months since ive had em but wondering if youve noticed the same thing
