lost power last night around 5am. Turned on my generator around 7am. Hooked up my return pumps, powerheads, and blue lights. then left for work.

So not sure how long the gas will last in the generator, i am hoping at least 6hrs. Its a small 2hp 800watt generator. Should i be worried? I dont get home untill around 530pm. Will it be a big deal that my skimmer is not hooked up? Temp is not a prob its around 80deg in the house and the tank was at 79deg when i left.

Anyone know how long a small generator will run?

well that says 5hrs at 50% capacity. I am running just the blues on my 120w led, 2 evo 750, 1 evo 550, smartwave controller, siccie 3.0, maxi-jet 1800. That probably puts me under 400watts i hope...but still even if it gets me from 7 to 12pm. still 5.5-6hrs that the power will be off. Is this a problem?

I have experienced several power outs on my reef tank ( in 2010 when they did some work on the grid) and power was out one day a week every week for about 8 hours ( 8 am until 4pm)

I had battery powered air pumps x 3 in use on those days
temp did climb to around 83 IIRC

But I did not experience any issues during those single day power outs

Our power just went out for aprox 5 days. The only thing you really need is minor surface agitation so that oxygen will be produced. My corals had no lights or anything and the only thing I lost was was 2 fish because I passed out and there was no agitation for 16 hours. After that I just hooked a power inverter up in my car and every couple of hours i turned the car on, kicked the return pump on for 30 min. I ended up getting a generator but still only used it to run my return pump and I never lost anything.

we had our power out for 25 hours when on vacation. all of my fish survived 10 hours without power. granted we almost lost the purple tang. it was laying on its side.
