Hey guys. I am currently running a 125 gallon "reef" tank. I am not sure it can be called a reef anymore because of the amount of pest anemones choking out all of my coral. I have lost the battle and to the point where I want to move in a different direction to get rid of it.

My thought is to remove my current fish and go to a predator type tank. I am interested in possibly a lion fish, some tangs, and an angel to name a few. I also would remove much of the rock and go with a minimal rock look in the tank. Would the predator fish be enough to get rid of the remaining aiptasia/majano on the rock left in the tank or would they not touch it? Would i be better off removing the rock and treating it? I would like to avoid this as I know I would probably need to remove all the water and sand and scrub the tank to minimize the chance of reintroduction.

Is the predator tank, without coral, a viable way to go or is this just wishful thinking?

Throw in a handful of peppermint shrimp and you should have your reef tank back. All of those fish you mentioned could go in your reef tank.

I had some of the same in my SPS tank. I brought in a Copperband and they are almost all gone after three weeks.
