I think I need to do some adjusting as my cal. is at 460, mag. is at 1200, dkh is 11 and salinity is 1.0215. Any suggestions. If I raise my salinity does that raise the mag or how do I get it to raise. Water changes? Supplements?

According to my Red Sea Magnesium test kit here are proportional Magnesium levels according to salinity:

    Salinity Magnesium(ppm)
    1.020 1015
    1.021 1065
    1.022 1120
    1.023 1170
    1.024 1220
    1.025 1270

So, raising the salinity will increase the Magnesium.

from what ive observed , trying diff salinity from like 1.024 up to 1.029 i find that my corals really seem to look the best at 1.027 alot higher than what others seem to do. but closer to natural levels. does not seem to bother the fish at all, why would it.

this is just what i found works best in my tank. and levels between 400 450 cal. mag 1250 and kh 8-9-10 really its kinda personal preference on what you want . you could raise them for the sake of maybe accerated growth. but why not just use as close to natural as you can.

Keep the dKH a little highe BluePhish. You ideally want 12-14 dKH, Mag 1400-1450, Ca 450.

i could be higher in some areas. but im stable right now so. dont want to upset anything. my tank now is at 420 cal. mag 1300 kh 9-10 salin.1.027

i used this info as a guide as it seemed to make a alot of sense with studies to back it up. Reef Aquarium Water Parameters by Randy Holmes-Farley - Reefkeeping.com

reading this arcticle again sparked something about pulsing zenias and why some people have great success and others stop pulsing and diminish, i think the white pom pom zenias are often found in the red sea were salinity is quite a bit higher than what most keep there tanks at. no one ever figured out why they just stop pulsing or suddenly die. last posts i read about dieing zenias it was cuncluded with something like they just die sometimes. could be the salinity?!
