I'd like to see that one, preferably done within the last 6 months.

It's a problem that manufacturing processes change constantly, and anything older than that gets more and more likely to have bad data because of those changes.

EDIT: Of course I posted before I looked at the last link you had.

That salt analysis is great. The only problem I can see with the methodology is the variance between 2 samples from the same mix can have a difference of over 200% in many cases.

This implies that the salt mix isn't distributed evenly, and to get hard numbers (and the best mixed water), you should really mix a whole package of salt at once rather than 7 grams of salt at a time.

I swore I had another link that was more recent and had a bigger sample size too.

I will see if I can find that.

oceanic. My Calcium is 480-500 steady and my ALK is at 8-9.

    It works for my tank.

Keep in mind that many hobbyist grade test kits are inaccurate at best.

I would look at the home test results and compare the results with what the lab tests are getting. If the lab tests are much different than the home test, then you should re test with another brand of test kit.

I started out using Oceanic but it kept my MG too high so I switched to Instant Ocean and now all is fine. This is just my exp in my tank, all water chemistry is different but my params are doing great with IO & some light dosing.
