Yesterday I noticed my cleaner shrimp has what seems to be a LOT of eggs in it. Are they a-sexual or something or do they just produce eggs randomly? It's the only shrimp in the tank, however I did have one half the size but it died a couple months ago... Thoughts?

To answer my own question, after googling some more I have found that these shrimp are asexual, it's common for them to produce eggs, they don't always hatch into something without fertilization however it is possible for them to somehow fertilize their own eggs. Not too sure on that one yet. Basically unless separated from the tank mates they end up being food for all. :)

I've noticed some are starting to fall out. It's not nesting or anything, just doing it's thing...

yeah I have 2 skunk shrimp in my nano and I think I'm to the point where they give birth about once a week, talk about a rich feast for my fish in there.

Highly debating pulling the fish and trying to raise a few batches of the shrimp, LFS told me they'd pay me $5 for everyone I bring to them and they'll take as many as I can deliver, could make the tank pay for itself really fast if I could figure it out

The problem is raising the larvae. Rotifers are too large. Maybe they will accept phytoplankton.

Shrimp switch sex. I had one that produced eggs and fertilized them itself (it was the only one in the tank). They hatched but the fry didn't last. They got eaten by the fish and inverts, and filtered out. Once I got a second skunk they alternated producing eggs bi-weekly. I had a tank full of microfry, my tank didn't have to eat for about a month.
