In todays world, kids have the advantage over parents. If a parent doesnt do everything a parent wants, theres 99 ways they can get them in jail. There was even a show about kids who said their parents "touched" them, and because courts favor kids, they were all sentenced to life. 40 yrs later, the kids admit that they were wrong and lied because they were "mad" at their parents.Kids who are on sports teams will never get in trouble and have everything they want, binge drinking parties that parents know about, and all kinds of unnacceptable behaviour because they bring a "good" name to their family (that is if they are widely known on footbal team, like Varisty QB). Go to your nearest high school or middle school and watch kids as they come out. all you see is new ipods, american eagle clothes, and a large group of kids wearing "in" clothes, and a smaller group of those not. Once you do something unacceptable or unliked by society, theres almost no way to correct it. Your screwed, to say the least. This issue affects me in no way negative or positive. So i am not biased in any way. Let him have a kid, just make sure she/he doesnt spend their life as an outcast to society, because of his decision. not only is she/he a sperm bank child, but born from a person officially a male.

Not the direction I really wanted this to go at all, just thought the headline was kinda funny. Please don't pump any more politics into this thread, we all know the rules. Not my intentions at all.

I don't know if this will make it more clear or more confusing, but sex and gender are two different things.
    Sex: Biological
Gender: Cultural construct (i.e. INVENTED by our society)

We are one of many societies in the modern world who only have two genders (although some scientists would argue that there are more than two sexes, as seen with our pregnant man here, but I won't make this more complicated than it already is). Some current and past cultures, have third and fourth genders and it is/was an accepted, unstigmatized part of our culture.

It will help to discuss such things if we are using the correct terms (problem is our society has very broad terms for persons who fall in such categories (i.e. people who are neither male nor female, have no discernible sex, non gay or heterosexual, etc.). To be clear, this person considers themselves a man (transgendered, to be more precise). This means their sexual organs are at odds with what gender they feel they truly are. Therefor they consider themselves to be a he, and who is to argue? Who would know better than they?

Transsexual: Means that they feel they are at odds with their biological sex and have had an operation for them to be the sex they feel they truly are.

I would also like to point out, that just because a person is trans gendered does not mean that they feel they NEED an operation; something that is commonly misunderstood.

Since these are all terms and assumptions that get thrown around alot, its good to have a full understanding of all variables before just saying... "thats messed up" or the word "IT" which drives me nuts.

This is a very confusing topic as our language and culture does not have an extensive enough understanding or vocabulary to describe such events.

This has been a VERY brief lesson in viewing the world through an Anthropological lens :)

If you have anymore questions that you think I can answer, just ask! I've done much reading on the subject and taken several classes concerning gender and Anthropology (the study of humans in all times and spaces)
