I am unable to get a photo... ARGH!!! But my husband pointed out something we hadn't seen before on our skunk shrimp... It looks like tiny little white eggs inside the area of the swimming legs.

I'm not sure if this is a parasite, disease, eggs or other... I've looked over the internet and found some photos of pregnant shrimp, but I would say they were much further along, as they were bursting out of the shrimp and were also a greenish color.

Any help would be appreciated - if it's a problem, I would like to take action.

    THANKS!

just one! my understanding is that it they could be eggs... but it would take another shrimp for them to be fertilized.

If you don't mind my impute . from what Ive read it only takes 1 shrimp ,usually after they molt, and it takes from 14 to 21 days for them to develop into larval stage. at that point the parent kind of fans them loose. If there is fish in the tank they will become fish food.If you have a quarantine tank better to move the shrimp there for now.I have a peppermint shrimp that did it and took about 20 days.

I've had the one shrimp for several months. But before I posted here, I did a little searching on the internet which confirms what OCD said... it doesn't take 2 to produce eggs, but my understanding is that it does take 2 to fertilize. Here's hoping it's eggs. If it is, I don't think there will be in babies, but I'll be keeping watch. It seems that you need a specialized tank if you are going to try and raise them... since they will get 'filtered' in my current setup. Even if I put them in a quarantine, with my setup, they would still be filtered. I'll look a bit more into it...
