Yeah. That would be really good. Tank raised fish are generally healthier and hardier as well.

This is really exciting! Please keep us updated.

Just what I was going to say, I'll buy a tank raised fish over a wild caught any day!

You can do it!!! To me it looks like Jawfish beat you out - or at least in the voting it did. I saw the new thread! GL!

I cannot recall the details but the Jawfish was eliminated because it is globally available and the Neon Goby, which won hands down as the easy fish was also globally available. Why only one???? But glad the Six Line got in. ;D

    Quick update,

Daily spawning continues at about 8:30 PM, just before lights out. We are trying to capture the eggs in a nylon, auto paint cone filter with some luck. The filter is then hung on the side of the tank so all water parameters remain the same (will post a picture from the next effort).

We have not had luck in hatching since the first go round.

One major upgrade is a resident population of Copepods we have established. These are primarily thriving in the filter foams so can be gathered when needed for feeding. The foam filter is just squeezed into a container and is loaded with the pods.

Well, everyone ask that we keep them updated.

We have had a set back, a pretty bad one. As posted earlier the Six Line pair sometimes leap out of the water at the end of the spawn.

For several months this has not been a problem but three days ago the female missed, left the tank and died. We were quite upset. The male would constantly search through the rocks for her.

Our delemna was whether to replace her or just say we tried and bow out. We have heard so many tales of the Six Line being agressive. I decided to at least visit the local LFS and see what they had. There were three Six Line available in separate tanks to keep them apart. I looked at one and could immediately tell it was a male. The second one I looked at could be either and the third definitely had the female characteristics we had observed in ours. The males are constantly putting up their dorsels and swimming sideways in front of other fish whereas the females just swim away. I also had notice our female was slightly narrower in front of the eyes and towards the mouth.

I decided to try another female and yesterday purchased her. She is about 2/3 the size of the first one. While acclimating in the plastic bag in the tank the male aggressively charged the bag for about 20 minutes. After that he went back to just swimming around. I released the female and it was instant bonding. My heart was in my throat as I knew it would be impossible to catch either of them if it did not work. They are now cruising the tank together and appear to be fully paired.

I thought this might be interesting placing a new fish so soon after one was taken away. Will keep all updated and post a video if they start to spawn.
