if you are going to be living in a dorm, I suggest getting the following:
    - Locker or trunk and a lock for it
    - Fan for next to your bed (so you don't have to listen to roomie snore/ breathe)
    - Some sort of plastic caddy to easily store toiletries and carry them to shower area
    - Some sort of water proof flip flop to wear in shower, you don't want to get athletes foot or some weird fungus

I'm sure I'll think of more later

I'd leave your important paper work at home!!!!!!! Stuff tends to disappear in college dorms.

    pico tank
    certain baby preventive devices
    fake ID
umm sure there's more, but thats a good start!;)

A small strong safe for your valuables.

An open mind to not completely buy into the liberal/socialist propaganda they'll be shoveling into your spongy young mind....

Yes, I will be in the dorms. The rooms already include a safe (big enough for a laptop) for each student. The dorms are doubles, and include a little breakfast nook area and one bathroom (w. shower). I will be sharing with 3 other residents. I'm not sure whether I had a fan on the list, but I'll be sure to add that.

    haha. Thanks guys.

Possibly a FW pico. I will need to see if I have time for one or not. I've heard they keep you very busy as a freshman here. :p

    Patience. Bring plenty of patience.

You'll be ready to go a round with every one of your room/suite mates before the year is over. :)

Still get a trunk and a lock. Mostly for food, it's the most stolen item. But anything you don't want to see run away should be locked. I really believe most people don't intend to steal it (whatever "it" ends up being).. they are going to "borrow" it but just never end up getting it back to you.

I would still consider the flip flops for the shower.. I knew lots of peoples in my dorms that got foot problems from other. We had a similar layout to yours, 3 ppl to a room, each room had a study area and a bath room and every 2 rooms shared a living room.

Also, some basic cleaning supplies are prudent.

Yes that microwave is now your best friend!!! I never had a problem with roommates stealing from me so I never needed a lockbox or anything
