Yes, industrial design (nice to see you remembered. :)) Ultimately, I would like to have a start-up company in the aquarium industry, but we will see where this takes me. If that doesn't work, I could still work in my field in a variety of companies/purposes.

I come from the land where college campuses sprawl out across many city blocks, and I know you said you won't have much need for a backpack so this might not apply to you. I carried a small folding travel umbrella in my bag always. Sure was a nice way to stay dry when that surprise storm would hit just before class got out.

Maybe not a backpack per say, but at least a messenger bag to hold my laptop. So I will be sure to bring an umbrella with me. :)

I have read through your list. You might want to leave out the Pico. Most Dorms don't allow pets including fish. Now if you were a cute girl, you could probably get the Resident Advisor to look the other way. You might want to give the Dorms a call and see if it's allowed. Don't have to give your name, Just ask if it's allowed. There is absolutely no privacy in a dorm and you should not go into this experience expecting it. Housing staff will have access to your room. Always remember that. Also colgate toothpast is good to have on hand to patch nail holes before you move out.

Thanks, gcarroll. I checked already and it says fish tanks that are 10 gallons or less are allowed. But I don't know if I will have enough time to care for it anyway.

I cant say i agree with that post only because many dorms actually do allow small tanks. There is definitly a limit, but my sister has a 2.5 gallon tank in hers. If she wante to i bet she could have a 10 gallon because her RA is very cool. Dont bring the tank on the first day of school, wait until maybe 2nd semester until you are settled in. I think it would be tough to set up a tank and start school at the same time...

Edit: this is to gcarrols comment

Which is why I said to give them a call beforehand. I was a RA and and the Sr. RA for 2 years at my University.I'm simply giving my advice from the other side of the fence.

Key word "sister". Is her RA male? Even if he is not, IME, RA's (male and female) let girls get away with these things far more often than guys. It's simply because guys tand to push the limits!
