I have 2 cucumbers in my 200g. One is a tiger tail, one is a black Atlantic one. Both do great jobs of keeping the sand nice and clean. I don't think I would try anymore than 2 n a tank any smaller than mine.

    Hey Horkn,

Are both of yours sand sifters? I know that those can get large. Ive seen some huge ones that border more on "small zucchini" rather than a cuke lol.

I would love to see pics of yours.

My filtering ones just park up on the rocks and....filter - no interest in sand whatsoever.

If any of the rest of you get a cuke (filter or sifter) be sure to show them off :)

...and thank you all for the kind words and enthusiasm!

Mine are both sand sifters. I could see adding a filter feeding one though. I forgot some are filter feeders and some are sifters.

Both are like 50 times bigger than when I got them. My black atlantic is about 5-8 inches long, depending on how stretched out it is and the tiger tail is around 6-9 inches long. Both are pretty tough to get pics of since they hide behind rocks and such.

Yeah, 2 sifters in my tank would likely be a bit much - how long have you had yours? Now i am curious about the growth rate.

When my sand sifter makes appearances, I have to admit that its interesting to watch it as well - dirty stuff etc in one end, and clean out the other! You just can't beat that! :D

I have had mine in the old 90g, so I would say about 9 months. I was a little worried about my cucumbers when I transferred the 90g to the 200g. I used almpost all new sand, with few cups of LS from the old tank. The 2 cukes were even climbing on the glass to search for food. I added more bigger fish and that solved that. ;)

Now my buddy that has a black atlantic one in his 75g, wow is that thing massive. He has had it for a year maybe more, and it is all of a foot long, even not extended.
