I have posted this picture once for the fun of it but now it has gotten possibly serious? The hole you see has grown out about 3 1/16th's of an inch and this weird lil creature that is round and tube like and gray in color has two tentacles and apear's to be filter feeding now. Earlier I noticed a bunch of lil works that are about a 16th of an inch crawling off the rock. I mean a bunch of them. Then I noticed what apeared to egg's or a type cacoon coming out of the tube he was in and my power head blew them all over the tank. The worm's are a whitish yellow in color and the egg's or cacoon thing's were the same except a shade more yellow. I just did a 50% water change so there is no chance of trying to vacuum them out as I have'nt enough salt to do another load. Any idea's on what they are. The shell is empty and has been since I got it from a cuc dealer online. Here is a picture of it before the what ever came out and went wild in my tank. Thank you for any input. What is this thing? Please help if ya got any idea's. I won't be able to get another picture until monday or tuesday. If I can get them to come over and take another. There good friend's and I hate bugging them about shoot like this...thnx again...

    Hi Coldshot
looks to my untrained eye to be a serpulid worm species growing on your snail
if so its a filter feeder and thus not a bad thing for your tank ( but a burden for the snaill I imagine)

hopefully someone esle can ID more accurately

Hi, why are you stressing? Most of us love to see new life developing in our tanks, it is a sign of a healthy tank. Did you do a 50% water change because of the worms? 50% changes are for emergency situations like Nitrate at 60-80 ppm or similar situations. The star fish (or a species close to them) aren't bad either. Even if the worms could be potentially harmful, they are in there now and will run their course. If you are stressing over the thing on the snail, take it out, clean it off and put the snail back. Use gloves as you don't know if there are any toxins.

O.k. now I got you, I thought when you said; "sheesh...my tank has been a nightmare since day one....." that the new live discoveries were an extension of the "nightmare". Hey, where's a whole tank pic?

The white specimens with the tentacles on your glass could be medusas. A stage of jelly fish.
