sorry to hear about your gobbie problems mate.
I have two six spots and the first day one decided to joint the diving team bye chance we were home and sore him fly.
Did you say that you have a lids on your tank,
I was under the impression that you were better of without them for the gas exchange maybee you could DIY a hood.

Eggcrate should do the trick. You can find it at any of the large hardware store chains. Look in the lighting section......buy either the white or black type. All the others are painted (silver, gold, etc..). Comes in sheets of 2'x4'. That should stop the suicides :)

    something like this:

I used the black stuff to build full covers for both of my tanks, my first yellow clown goby joined the "diving team" but I wasn't home. :-[

So I made these tops and still have the second goby that I bought. It has the added benefit of keeping my tank edge walking snails in the tank also.

Nice part about that stuff is you can use a pair of side cutters or tin snips and sandpaper to form it. If you have any cords the holes are large enough to fit several through one hole which keeps it nice an tidy.

By the way sssnake, that looks really nice, is there an edging on your eggcrate and where did you get the hinge?

+3 on the egg crate. That is what I did.

Or you can put a 2" glass lip around the tank edge with some work. That prevents a lot of jumping too.
