I will be adding my first fish tomorrow to my newly set up saltwater tank and want to do a freshwater dip before putting the fish in the display tank. I read the dip can be anywhere from 2-10 minutes, but when using Methylene Blue it should only be for 10 seconds. Seems like quite a drastic difference.

Any tips on doing these preventive dips? I will probably use only a gallon or two of water with a power head for oxygen. Do I do the float the bag in the water trick, then put the fish in the dip or can I just net the fish from the shipping bag into the dip? Thanks.

Dip the fish after acclimating them. Methylene Blue is a strong irritant among other things. Pour the fish out of the bag into a net and then do the dip.

I haven't found that.... I've found the opposite, actually. Can you tell me more about your findings, please?
