Hi all I just wanted to know, with the price of all the test kits we need and use. How often do you test your water under normal conditions (meaning no visible signs of trouble)? Also if you are trying to raise something like Ca. how often do you test, as this can get expensive.

I test every 2 weeks. If I am adjusting, I will test daily until I hit the mark. I have found that the test kits usually expire by the time you can use all the reagent. Usually after you open the kit it should not be used longer than 6 months to a year after that to ensure accuracy.

I test Ca, Alk and Ph, about once a week, more frequently if Im raising or lowering. I test Mg about once a month, maybe twice.

I'm testing Alk maybe 2 times a week, Ca maybe once every week or two since it should follow the Alk usage pretty closely, Mg maybe once a month.
I'm still trying to get my kalk in my topoff "dialed in" but hopefully once that happens I'll just be able to test Alk once a week or two just to make sure of it.
