Ok this may be a stupid question, but here goes. Is 1 Vortech MP20 enough flow for a 4'x2'x2' 120gal? They are rated for 70gal but can create way more flow than I need up to 2000gph. I will have probably about 500ghp-300gph from my return alone. The wife put a hold on the upgrade for now. So I am saving my money up to buy some equipment I've wanted but had no use for in the size/shape aquarium I am currently running. I also have the 2 Koralia 2's from my current DT that I could add If need be. I just like the Idea of running the tank with the wave feature.

For a 120g tank, I would aim for about 6000GPH within the DT. 50x is what I try for. I run about 50x in my 90g and about 30x in my 10g.

You could put the 1 Koralia on the back glass and 1 Koralia on the other side opposite the Vortec. That should hold you for now. When you can afford another Vortec move the Koralia to the back wall only if you feel it's necessary. I had the same tank and used 2 Koralia 4's for the sides and 2 Koralia 2's on the back wall. Here's a picture.

I forgot to add the flow from the 2 CPR BakPak skimmers I plan on using. Which is about an extra 300GPH+or-. and the 500 from the return is dialed down so its possible to increse that as well to around a 900GPH using a quiet one 4000.

I think an MP40 is the minimum I would put on a 120, I would actually go 2 MP40s personally.

You could use the MP20, but would have to use additional powerheads with it (keep your k2s for opposition for now). The MP20 by itself most likely won't be enough.

You usually don't count the skimmers in your flow rate.
