problem with lether coral

    You can be pretty aggressive with the frag. You take a razor blade and make clean cuts all the way through. I would sew it to another rock with a sharp needle and fishing line. We have done this to ours (not with the hole through it though). Then just keep an eye on it for infection. In one of the pics it looked like there was a white rock or an SPS right next to it. Our leather scars VERY easily and it doesnt heal well. I would love to know what that is.

    Looks like that damage may have been caused by a parasitic snail or nudibranch.

    Yes.....my conclusion exactly and if so you need to look for the culprit and remove it. If you haven't moved it or done anything yet, leave it so the creature eating at it (if this is truly the case) will come back for more. Set up video camera with night vision (if available) and film at night or daytime when you are at work.

    Ok now that you say something about a snail (i know this guy, lives close and i got him started) he did mention snails in his tank that were reproduceing from what he said. Now im not sure what they look like right off hand or anything but you may want to ask him for a pic of one if that could be the cause of it.

    Dont know if you guys will catch this but i just wanted to say thank you, the lether is doing great now. I cut the base and tried to glue it to a piece of base rock but it came off so i took the lether and tied it to the base rock and its doing great thank you
