Well I got my order in today from Aquacave for my Profilux Doser. Ran the box over towards the fish tank and opened up, like it was Christmas. I did order the 3 pump unit but the unit shipped with 2 pumps installed and I actually had to install the 3rd pump/motor myself. It was a little stressful I'm not gonna lie. Took me about 15 mins to install it, they used two little screws for the motor to mount onto the unit. Thank god I have this epic screw driver set because in Germany they like to use star bit screws instead of phillips head? Got the motor in and the head unit on.

Rigged my solution jugs up with hard air line tubing inside the jugs with a small 3/4 inch piece of flex hose onto the bottom of the hard airline tubing. I did this to keep the air line tubing off the bottom of the jug, to prevent any settled buffer from being sucked into the tubing. At the top of the jugs I used a rubber medical air line and ran that to the doser. That line also runs from the doser to the sump. I did purchase an airline holder that hangs on the side of most tanks from Petsmart to hold the tubing steadily onto the sump. After I did this I took a break and went to a coral vendor and dinner with some good friends. When returning I programmed the pumps and calibrated them. Each pump is dosing 4 times a day to start out with. I will see how this goes. I might up the number of doses down the road. I'm currently dosing with Seachems Reef Buffer, Builder, and Reef Complete. Here are some pics of the process of installing the motor, setting up, and finished product.

Dosing!!! I waited around a while to see it do this. Pretty uneventful but cool.

Congratulations on your purchase, I've owned a couple of those before....a couple of warnings the first was from my own experience. The second was from the experience of the guy I bought my second one from...Whatever you do, make sure that dosing pump/controller, doesn't get condensation or water inside of it....2. however you program it, remember that whatever the dosing ml you need, divided by the amount of doses you want....the guy I bought one from, said he nuked his tank from overdosing. When I went to recalibrate and program, he had 20 doses of 240 ml....it should have been programmed to do 20 doses at 12ml. He was dosing 4800 ml of each everyday, didn't take long to nuke the tank! His problem, was he had big containers for the solution.

Dose small amounts each day, and test at the same time every other day....

They are nice, but if moisture gets into the unit, the parts are a pain to order....You shouldn't have any problems since it sits away from the tank.

Thanks for the info. You have me a little worried but I know for a fact I'm not dosing 4800 ml. My alk is set up for 8 doses a day at a total of around 500 mL. And my Ca is set up for 4 doses a day around 240 mL. I do have the unit away from the tank as well. I did notice when pulling it apart if for some reason you did get moisture in it, you would definitely have problems.

I would also like to thank Atticus818 for helping me program and calibrate the pumps.

Very nice Travis. Do not try to dose where the pump is working less than 10 seconds it seems to become very inconsistent with the amount. This is true for any dosing pump.

Great review Travis - thanks for the details and pics. I am sure that bit about the screws will save some time for somebody. Happy dosing!
