Proflex sump for 54 corner? How's my plans sound?

Well I'm in! Picked up my 54 tonight! Can't find a 15 tall but pf is almost same footprint. Next Is sump, any users running the Aqueon Proflex model 1? Fish store said $180 out the door but wanted to research. <br />

Also want to run the sca 301 skimmer here with a Rio 2100 return pump. Tank will be in living room, is Rio quiet? Can I plumb with flex tubing? Any way to use ball valve with flex?

i have a 66 gallon corner and i use a 20 gallon high tank as my sump. i run a hard plumbed mag drive 5 with no check valve so i can do water changes from the sump. return is hard plumbed into a eshopps 4" sock assembly. in the sump i also have a pump for my aquaripure nitrate filter, a heater and a uv sterilizer.

Did you measure the skimmer to see if it will fit in the proflex 1? I had one under my 60 cube. That think is tiny. The only skimmer I found to wedge in there was the bubble magus nac-3.

Yes, it will fit actually shows 54 corner on the box. How did you like it? I was looking at making a 10g conversion since they don't make a 15 high anymore. That's my size limit...

 

It's the skimmer compartment on the proflex 1 is too small to accomodate most skimmers. The stated size of the skimmer compartment is pretty deceiving, as it has about 3/4 inches less due to overhangs. I ended up shaving it off with a dremel. It's noisy. You can't clean the filter area. Ok, I didn't like it. But least it fit under the stand.

 

More noisy than my emperor 400 impeller? Lol what return pump did u use?

 

I think I may go this route as a 10g is thin and compact
