definitely looking at the hydras. in fact they are my leading contender right now. I like the radions though and they seem super programmable but hydras seem like a better deal, esp as I need 2 for my 90 gal

    Just ordered 3 AI Hydra's for my 210. They'll be arriving today. So, hopefully they'll achieve what I'm looking for. I'll be replacing 3 x 250W halides & 4 x 80w T5's.

very cool. what store did you get them from? I'm going to need 2 for my 90 I think. a little more than I need but one will not cut it. so far AI Hydras are my lead contender as well

My personal opinion on whether or not is it is worth the cool factor is really based on the price and benefits of switching over.

As some on this thread has mentioned, there are pros and cons for both MH and LEDs. By no means this is a complete list but it is somehting to keep in mind.
Pros for using MH: low upfront costs (free possibly?), full spectrum of light, light penetrates deeper and more evenly, easily replaceable bulbs
Pros for LEDs: Less heat/Bulb change less frequently (costs factor in the long run), programmable, dimmable, mimic environmental effects, easily expandable depending on the type of fixtures you choose

I believe the questions you gotta ask yourself is would you want to pay more now or later?

I have 3 Hydra's on my 210. I'm not completely sold, as of yet. I'm experiencing shadowing and dark spots. I made need more than 3.

thanks for the updte bud. I was thinking a 6 foot tank would need 4, since thats what a Sol required. Hard to to with a standard rim and cross-bracing.

IMO, that is not enough fixtures for that tank. Even AI would recommend 5-6 for a 6' tank.
