From the beginning I've been running my Eheim classic canister with carbon and filter floss.

Coralline algae seems to start receding and is being replaced by brown velvety algae.

On 03/03/2009, ~ one week later, I added my damsel, George, and he is doing wonderfully. George eats well and is happy as a pig in mud. He's even started warming up to me and comes up to the glass for treats now :D

Observing tank on 03/05/2009 I notice some shoots that look like eye lashes (thickness and shape wise) sprouting from my LR. Greeg hair algae is on the way already!! It's flapping away in the current just doing it's thing.

So, I guess I'm right on schedule, maybe a little early with the hair algae. I'll keep you guys updated as I go along. Yes, pictures will be provided soon, just have to borrow a camera :p No calling the Photo-Police!!!

03/09/2009 - Come home and there are white floaties in my water, like snow. No idea why but this morning they were gone. Looked around the tank and still not seeing any hitchhikers of any kind :( Oh well.

03/10/2009 - Tonight when I get home from work I'll be doing a 4gal water change.

How often are you feeding George?

I'm feeding George every couple of days or so. I try not to feed too much or too often.
He eats brine soaked in garlic which he wolfs down like a piggy. I'm also feeding him some omnivore flake food. I'm also giving him Nori although he picks plenty of algae from the rocks!!

I hope this is ok.... This is what I've read anyway. Any tips would be awesome though.

I'm also thinking about picking up some ulva for the DT since I don't have a fuge.... I think I can put it right in but I've read something about algae scrubbers? It won't harm anything right?

    Update for today:
I have some spade shaped green macro growing in the tank as well as red kelp that came as hitchhikers! Ok so I did get SOMETHING on those rocks!!

Friend had to break down tank so he brought over his scooter blenny and a few hermits to start my CUC.
Things are going well and the coralline algae is starting to get it's color back :D
Scooter blenny and crabs are sitting in their bag getting used to the tank. Damsel is less than thrilled but not aggressive, just inquisitive. He isn't flaring fin or anything....yet.
Scooter is very active, even in the bag. Bud brought him and the crab in a bag with a bit of his sand and water and the blenny is scooting around taking mouthfuls of sand and "puffing" stuff out of his gills.

    Edit:
I also just spotted the smallest featherduster! he has a hard tube and all his "feathers" are waving in the current. He's so small that the feathers look almost clear but I do see a colored spot on each of the feathers. Update on this. The same night that I found the featherduster and brought the dragonet home, the dragonet plucked my featherduster right out of the rock :shifty:

    *does the happy dance*
