quick question for all of you SPS guru's. I would like to start an SPS collection in this tank as stated earlier, but my lighting may no be enough for this tank. here are the options, I already have one of each of the MH in 150w and 250w also already have the 4x54w T5's.

    what would you recommend ?

    2x150 MH with 4x54w T5's

    or

    2x250 MH with 4x54w T5's

either way i have to buy one more MH in either wattage

for a reminder the tank is 48x20x25

    thanks in advance

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Option #2.

Nice tank and stand BTW, tons of potential.

Option #2 would be optimal but to save money for now why not run with what you have. That way you can have your more light demanding corals under the 250w and the less light demanding under the 150w. JMO ;)

Option 2, option one will not get enough light to the sand. A 6X54W T5HO unit with individual reflectors will do as well if not better and use less electricity besides generating less heat.

I would have to agree with that. Good quality t5 kits with good ballasts not the cheap workhorse ballasts.

Well, brought the stand in the house tonight for a test fit , and WOW, it looked much smaller in the garage. But after seeing it in place for a bit, I'm not sure that I like the final spot. Will let it sit till the weekend and see it if grows on me.

This looks likes its going to be an awesome set up! I too vote for option 2.

For some reason tanks grow when they get in the house lol I just recently brought my 200 gall that was in storage into the living room, and it looked enormous
