Propagating anemones by division.

    There are two "forms" or "types" of BTA. There is the colonial anemones that live in groups and obviously split naturally as a form of reproduction. There's another that is typically larger, and lives a solitary life, that is not known to split naturally. This may explain why your large green BTA hasn't split.

    My green bta is a clone made from a split bta from a fellow reefers tank.

    That does explain why another friend has a few BTA's and one of them in particular never splits.

    i have cut 2 bubble tip's in half rose ones to let every one know now i have 4 all are dooing well but im thinking its not a very good idea to do this. but how do we find a way to stop people from takeing them from the wild and start farming them? any one have any idea's

    They propagate quite readily just by feeding them. I see no reason to take any from the wild at the rate they multiply.

    I make a small cut on the edge of a rbt with a sharp scissors and they usually split after a day or so.
