    Hi Guys,
I am changing my stock jbj 150W 14K DE bulb..I am moving to the Radium 150W 20K DE bulb...my question is.....what is the proper way to burn the new bulb without affecting my animals...I have 2 SPS frags and a healthy Green BTA.

Thank you for all your help.

What is your lighting cycle now?? I would cut back by a couple to 3 hours daily and then move back up. The radium is going to be a big step up.

If you have the ability to raise the pendant/reflector, you could raise that 7-10 inches and keep your light cycle the same. Slowly, one inch at a time, you could lower it back down either weekly or every other week.

I cant raise my hood, this system is a closed hood system.
You see my fear is not too much on how the corals will react because I only have two small frags and I can always move them to the sand for a bit, my BIG concern is my green BTA, I have done all possible to make him happy and he has never moved from the same spot since I put in the tank..he is looking great with his two O.clowns...I am affraid that if I dim the lights he will move searching for lights....what do you think?...I wasnt thinking it would be a big deal since I am not moving to something brighter or with a higher wattage.....but you guys have been doing this a lot longer than me.....ALL advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I don't think you will have any problems, I wouldn't worry. At the most I may cut down your time with the bulbs on from 7 hours to 6 hours, then slowly over a couple weeks raise it back to 7 hours, honestly if it were me I would do nothing.
