Okay, so I was building a sump and trying to convert my Eshopps 100psk HOB to an insump design when I dropped the skimmer and broke the body of it. I have ordered a new coralife 125 but it won't be here for almost a week.

How long can my tank go without a skimmer if I do 10% water changes every other day.

Are there any recommendations on things I can do to prevent any loss.

50g tank with plenty of water flow. One hydro pointed upwards to break the surface.

    Stock list:
    2 false perc clowns
    1 dottyback
    1 blue damsel
    1 coco worm
    1 feather duster
a couple of small poylps that came on a rock from the lfs.
    Coral banded shirmp

I would have suggested the SC65, or the larger SC 150 PS, but that's just me, best bang for the buck IMO.

A week with WC's and you should be just fine!

I figured that I should be okay but thought I would ask. As for the skimmer it came down to funding, and with a credit at amazon that was enough to cover the coralife I just did it. I didn't see a whole lot of negative comments about it when its used in a sump.

you sould be fine without a skimmer as long as you do WC weekly as stated above, if you are looking for a quick fix teh coralife works about the same as odyssea ok but there are better but its what you can afford at the time.

best of luck to you, also you could try and silicone the body to keep it from leaking and see if it still works, or try and use acrlyic glue to put it back togther.

I am not all of the kings horseman, I am not putting humpty dumpty back together again. LOL, not worth the time. If it was going to be awhile before I could get the skimmer then I would think about it.

    Thanks for the replies.
