So I'm looking into getting that SCAquariums skimmer SC-302 finally. I contacted them and found out that the foot print of the model is about 9x9.5. Only problem is that my sump is a model 1 proflex that is a tad smaller. I was wondering if anyone on here ever did any mods on that sump by removing the baffles to make things fit. I run it as of now like a regular straight flow sump and really only use i have for it is the filter sock holders. I guess I'm really looking for a way to avoid buying a new tank or sump to hold the skimmer.

I think I might have found an answer to my problem. The CAD Lights PLS-100 skimmer. It's rated for a 60 gallon heavy stocked system and my system is about 60 gallons running biopellets. Any opinions on this combo? I have only 4 fish in the tank and feed twice a day.

I have the same problem as you. Proflex-1 has such a small footprint. I've done extensive research on a skimmer that would work. Came to the conclusion that the Cad Lights is the answer. After reading the reviews on it, there's no other choice. I'm currently running a coralife HOB and will be switching it out for the cad lights within the next few weeks.

I have been using the pls100 on my 40b with small sump for about six months,it skims very well.It can be a little difficult to adjust until you become familiar with it but it works very well,is quiet, and is very easy to disassemble and clean.

I see they came out with the second generation model that has the tension lock on the body of it. They supposedly fixed the issue with the body adjusting itself from vibrations. My biggest concern with it is if it moves enough air through the skimmer to support the biopellets that I run. I'm not going to lie, right now I'm running a modded Sea Clone 100 lol....It's been keeping up alright but the thing makes too much noise.

I run biopellets as well and my tank is overstocked with seven fish.I have had no problems with low O2 and my nitrates have stayed low at 2-5ppm.I am battling a small gha outbreak but that could be caused by po4 from overfeeding.I do have a lot of flow from one wp25 and one evo750.
