Protein Skimmer help--Im a NEWBIE

Hi im taking care of my bf's 150Gallon tank while he's away so i'm kinda new at this. I just did a water change for the tank and everything seems to be fine. However, there doesnt seem to be any water being pumped into the protein skimmer. There is still water in there and there is some foaming going on but i think it may have been from b4 i did the water change. Theres some water flowing out but I have no idea how the water is getting in. I know this might be a stupid question but can someone please help!!!!

Nothing like being in charge of a marine tank !!! :-/

 

There should be a water pump attached to the skimmer...it pushes water into the skimmer. If there is a sponge on the water pump, it may need to be rinsed off to improve water flow.

Other that checkin that out, I would leave it alone till your boyfriend calls or gets back ;D

 

It's possible everything is fine. After a water change often no or little foam is generated in the skimmer. How is it this morning?

well water is still flowing out this morning but there is no water being pumped inside still. any suggestions on how to get the water pumping in??

Did you do a water change or did you just add water to the tank?
If you did a water change how much did you change and did you replace the water with salt/water mix or just water?
