Thanks, im just so frustrated! And sailfin looked so healthy last night cruising around the tank and was eating really well :(
Ive been reading up on all the different types of diseases but they just dont fit - i thought maybe the clown fish disease but they were all eating eagerly as usual, didnt seem lathargic at all... the clown had what i thought was like a white mould? Really flat to its skin, and quite light in colour but only a little bit - its mostly the fins that i noticed - very raggered looking and thats the same for the bi colour angel.... im wondering if there is some kind of fin rot parasite that progresses really quickly.... ? I think bi colour angel had what looked like divets or indents on his body, not like a puncture mark but more like part of his scales had sunk in..????

Thanks for all your help and advice, im going to keep looking online to try and work out what it was... will try and find a pic and post it too.

If there is a parasite in the water should i drain the whole tank and start again or just let it go without any fish ( we have liverock and 1 starfish, plus some hermie crabs) for 6 weeks for the parasite to die off?

    No They are not.

    Are you adding any supplements?
With out any fish showing signs of being sick I do not think it would be a parasite.

No supplements, i did add 1 dose of melafix the other day when i saw one of the clowns with the torn looking fins ( thinking it had been bullied).... but im pretty sure melafix is just an all natural for healing, The only real sign has been the torn looking fins and i suppose the angel may have been skittish and irradic rather than being aggressive like i thought it was...he did do the scratch up on some rocks sometimes i guess....... ??
