Protein skimmer metric issues?

    I was looking at purchasing a Reef Octopus® Extreme XS 8" In Sump Skimmer when I noticed it mention the skimmer uses metric plumbing parts? Will this affect anything with plumbing my sump?

    This is generally not an issue if it is an in-sump skimmer.

    An external skimmer that uses sealed plumbing connections would require adapters to US standard sizes if it is constructed using metric standard plumbing parts.

    But if its going in your sump - nothing to worry about.

    Great thanks, any thoughts on the Reef Octopus® Extreme XS 8" In Sump Skimmer, I have heard its a great skimmer but loud, my other choice would be the Reef Octopus® 8" Pinwheel Skimmer
