I came home from lfs to skimmer that was overflowing and bubbles everywhere. The only thing that changed was I pointed one of the return nozzle up to break the surface a little. Note the other nozzle was already pointed up. So I cleaned out the cup plugged it back in and instantly filled up. So I had to turn down the gatevalve a lot. But still producing serious bubbles. The skimmer is in constant amount of water and on a stand so that is constant. Another note skimmer had been working perfect for about a month with no adjustments made just empty cup. I will take a pic if necessary. It is a reef octopus nw 110 2010 cone edition.

My guess is that turning up that nozzle was enough of a change in pressure to cause this, either put it back where it was or adjust the system to work in its current configuration... <<<that said, not a skimmer expert by any means so feel free to call me a moron>>>

It could be blocked. Check the nozzle for snails. Also, IME Reef Octos are finicky, have you done a WC added anything? Also, leave it on overflowing and the level should level itself out.

Did you add anything to the tank in the way of epoxy or anything else?

Yeah, my SRO does that too, its just moody. One minute there are a TON of bubble, the next day producttion is half that. Did you do some fragging, add a big fish, feed before going to LFS, add chemicals or additives?

No additives, I fed right before I left same amount as usuall. I feed with pumps off let them eat. Stir it up, turn pumps off let them eat, turn them on again. Usually foam dies off then comes back in about an hour to normal operation. Even thus morning with skimmer cut back serious bubbles as seen in pic

do you have any clams or corals that might have spawned? The days that my clams would spawn our skimmer was crazy for a couple days!
