Ok so I finally got everything set up.

90g drilled tank going into a 20g long
first compartment is wet/dry with foam filters, second compartment is skimmer and return pump. The skimmer I used is a variation of Euro reef and its gigantic! I also did a gate valve mod on it before I ever used it (because it was somewhat broken) So now I plug everything in and it just went nuts and the cup overfilled with in 10 seconds. Bunch of bubbles!

Any ideas ? Am I sopostu have a air tubing in the gate valve on top ? Maybe thats my problem, because now that I think of it, my coralife65 had a little spout on the return pipe on the skimmer.

Stupid question but did you attempt to turn the skimmer down? There should be a knob to control that.

+1, especially since this is a brand new skimmer.

I recently bought a euro reef and the break in period was so annoying. It will calm down though, and I'm sure it will be an awesome skimmer.

This is not a brand new skimmer, this was purchased with a tank from craigslist. The return pipe was a bit broken so I did an extention with an elbow going down and a valve to control the return. If I turn my made valve down it bubbles faster. Am I missing something here?

It doesn't matter if you bought it from craigslist if it was dry when you got it. Skimmers need to build up a coating of bacteria to skim properly.

^^ very true,i got a sea clone skimmer working good after a couple weeks of building up that bacteria slime coating, the first couple weeks drove me crazy with not skimming,or overflowing. It's in a sump, let it spew for a few days and it'll probably settle down.
