protein skimmer problems

    [​IMG] Oceanic biocube protein skimmer help!!
    I just got my skimmer i have it all assembled but people keep talking about bubbles and i don't see any. I have it in the first chamber on your right side in the back and took the filter out. It is pluged in and i don't know what to do the tube isn't pinched??? Now what I have to go to work and don't want it to not work...

    Well first, if it doesn't work right now, you can go to work. Nothing terrible will happen between now and the time you get back, just unplug it. As far as what's wrong I can't help you there. I don't have any experience with Biocubes.

    I think those skimmers are driven by an airstone. Assuming that you have the air pump plugged in and the air stone in the skimmer chamber, make sure the airline is not kinked.

    I had the exact same problem. Apparently that stock air pump is very weak, so I replaced it with a cheap $13 pump from petsmart and replaced the flimsy black tubing w/ some more rigid airline tubing. I also removed the check valve that comes with it. Now mine works great, but it does take a few days to break in.
