    I am about to start a 100 gallon aquarium and not sure which skimmer should I buy. I have been looking around for a while and found there are many skimmers are available in the market to choose from. I narrowed down to Buy.com and Petco. Well, I don't want to spend much money, looking for an average skimmer. Want to know your recommendation before any purchase decision.

    I have had several over the years, I currently use the Coralife Super Skimmer Needle Wheel.

    Not sure what you consider to be too much money - but at about $135 I think this is well worth it.

    Be careful. Those "up to ___ gallons" ratings can be misleading. It is very dependent on planned bioload, and what type of fauna you have. A Fish only tank will need much less in the way of a skimmer than a tank with SPS corals. The difference could be as much as a factor of 3:1. Its better to over-buy than decide in 6 months you need a bigger skimmer and have to chuck what you have (I did that :angry:)- Paul
