Protein Skimmer Working?

well, i just got a protein skimmer from a friend, and ive never had one before, just got it installed, and im wondering if its all working right,,
the thing im most concerned about is how when it sucks in air, its not really constant, its like well u can hear it in the back round,,,

Thats a SeaClone Skimmer if I am not mistaken and no its not working correctly, even if it was its not much of a skimmer but its affordable. Your missing an air valve control that goes on the top of the air intake pipe that adjusts the air and water mixture properly and using that it should be set at the point that the mixture just starts going over the loop without any gaps, may take a couple days of adjustment to break it in properly. Try to go to your LFS and see if you can find a valve. I'll try to get you a picture of the one that comes with the unit but im sure you can find something that will work just as well. Good Luck
