Protein Skimmer

just needs a jump start. mine does the same thing every time i turn it off. or the power goes out. can 99% guarantee this is whats wrong. good luck!

 

Yea that's where the air gets in and produces micro bubbles. I had to drill mine to allow more air into my skimmer

 

more air? jeeze. mine is only like half way up with water flow full open! and if i go any higher i get way to watery.

It sounds to me like your pump stalled. If it has been plugged in this whole time, your pump may be fried. I would remove and inspect your pump. Get it working in the sink then try and reinstall.

Once you get it running or if you replace the pump dont turn it off. Just lower the level in the skimmer so you can remove the collection cup to clean it then turn it back up to where it was set. I havent turned my SWC skimmer off except for once to clean the pump in the 6 months I have had it. It will keep it from happening again.

 

Im going to take it to my LFS and try to see if they could fix it
