Ok so i traded a 30g. triangluar tank for a protien skimmer. i know nothing of this contraption. I know when i open it half way it send thousands of tiny air bubbles into my tank. i would all it a dt but its the only tank i have so. If i turn it low to where no bubbles go into the tank it shuts itself down lack of enough sucktion(sp) i guess. ok so here's the ?. If i turn it up higher will the bubbles eventually work thier way out or is the skimmer gone bad? I thought i was doin good with the trade seen his on high b4 the trade but that was in a chiclid tank not a saltwater marine tank
is this normal when first starting should i wait n see if the micro bubbles work thier way out or what?

depends on what kind of skimmer it is. a new aquac remora will put out bubbles until it's "broken in". Jebo, ViaAqua and oh I can't remember the name, but it's another p.o.s. will make bubbles all the time and you would need to make a bubble trap. Can you get a pic of the skimmer? maybe someone can ID it for you.

Microbubbles in the tank are bad. Algae tends to form when that happens. The bubbles can get breathed in by the fish as well, not a good thing. From what I have heard and read, Red Sea Prizm skimmers work great at first then deteriorate into junk after. If you can find where the bubbles are coming from, try to eliminate it from that point. Cover the outlet with floss or sponge if you can.
